Dear Students, Parents, School Personnel and Community Members!
The members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Delta Tau Omega Chapter and the Pearls of Excellence Foundation, Inc. in Lansing, MI are delighted to announce our 45th Annual Senior Salute and Scholarship Luncheon on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11am in Big Ten Room A in the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2024 and all of their accomplishments.
The Pearls of Excellence Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, established in December 2019, by members of Delta Tau Omega Chapter. The foundation is a separate legal entity from the chapter, whose mission is to enhance, equip and empower the Greater Lansing community to cultivate positive change.
Delta Tau Omega Chapter has more than 76 years of serving youth, women and those in need in Greater Lansing. Senior Salute is the chapter’s signature community program that focuses on youth and showcases academic excellence. This program recognizes graduating high school seniors in the Greater Lansing area for their academic accomplishments, leadership, good character, and school/community involvement. Furthermore, our college scholarship winners are announced as part of the celebratory activities. To date, nearly $200,000 in scholarships have been awarded to support students’ higher education goals.
Student Nominees: Please complete the Student Registration Form at the link below. If you would like to be considered for one of our college scholarships, please indicate that on the registration form and complete the scholarship questions on the form. For female students (planning to major in a STEM discipline in college) nominated from J.W. Sexton High School, please consider completing the Gooden Scholarship Supplemental Application as well as the scholarship questions in the Student Registration Form.
Family and Community Members: Senior Salute is a community celebration that recognizes African American high school graduates for achieving this milestone and thanking the parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators who made the financial and emotional investments in the students’ success. You may show your support of the Class 2024 by being an event sponsor or purchasing a congratulatory ad in our souvenir journal.
